Highchairs have more bacteria than toilets????

A recent article in London's Daily Mail reports that an antimicrobial products company has done a study that shows that in swabs of 30 restaurants in the US, there were more bacteria per square centimetere on highchairs than on the toilet seats in the same businesses.

The company's technical affairs director reported to the newspaper that in general the highchairs had 147 compared to the toilet seats eight per square centimetre

The article reported that some highchairs had bacterial concentrations of up to 1200 per square centimetre, including Golden Staph and E.coli, so the study was variable

The report highlights the importance of putting all equipment and tools onto the cleaning program of food businesses, not just the obvious ones. It is also imporatnt to remember that the Cleaning Program is not simply wiping something down, but ensuring it is visibly clean and then sanitised.
