Food Safety Managers are essential

The US's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has just released the results of a ten year study in 800 food businesses.

The study clearly shows that having a designated and trained person responsible for food safety in all food business types significantly increases compliance to food legislation.

"In looking at the data, it is quite clear that having a certified food protection manager on the job makes a difference," said FDA's deputy commissioner for foods Michael Taylor,

The role may have different names depending upone where you are, but is fundamentally the same, it is all about protecting the business and ensuring it complies with the legal food safety and other relevant requirements.

In Australia, some states already have a requirement for a Food Safety Supervisor for all or some type of food businesses. This study will most certainly reinforce the importance of this essential role within food businesses.
