New Product Information Form released

Version 3.0 of the Australian Food and Grocery Council's Product Information Form (PIF) has just been released.

The PIF was first released in 2008 to give all food businesses a standardised form for collecting labelling and product information, including allergen data.

The new version of the PIF has been simplified from the previous versions and now makes completion simper and can be used for finished goods as well. It is in an Excel format and is intended to be used electronically.

The original concept still remains of having just one accepted format for collecting this information  easier and simpler for all food businesses and their suppliers.

“The PIF provides Australian food manufacturing businesses with considerable savings in time and resources to provide the same information to all their customers, and reduces the risks of typographical and clerical errors in completing the form. Since the PIF was first introduced, there has been wide acceptance of the use of the form across the entire industry,” said Ms Carnell, the Australian Food and Grocery Council Chief Executive .
